SEO Grimsby Tip: Website Speed

Companies want to know if their website is up-to-scratch in terms of SEO and marketing, a quick tip to aid your SEO is to make sure your website is fast performing. Website speed affect your web page ranking/SEO. Google state that website speed is one of many methods they use to judge the quality of a website.

The first place to start is with optimising your response times. 80% of the end-user response time is spent on the front-end. Most of this time is tied up in downloading all the components in the page: images, stylesheets, scripts, etc. Reducing the number of components in turn reduces the number of HTTP requests required to render the page.

Speedier websites are much better for your customer, the faster your website loads the more responsive the user experience feels.

SEO Grimsby Tip: Use Schema.org

People contact SEO Grimsby wanting to know if their website is up-to-scratch in terms of SEO and marketing, we often review their current website and then create a list of recommendations to improve their SEO. We’ve noticed the same pattern of recommendations that keep cropping up, one such recommendation is a small tip often missed by many web designers, utilising Schemas.  We recommend that the website should take advantage of Schema’s and utilise Schema.org’s standards.

What is Schema.org?

This site provides a collection of schemas that webmasters can use to markup HTML pages in ways recognised by major search providers, and that can also be used for structured data interoperability (e.g. in JSON). Search engines including Bing, Google, Yahoo! and Yandex rely on this markup to improve the display of search results, making it easier for people to find the right Web pages.

Worth the toil?

Search Engine Land recently reported that More than one-third of Google’s search results incorporate Schema.org rich snippets, but only a tiny fraction of websites are actually using the markup code.

That’s according to a new Searchmetrics study out today that examined Google’s U.S. search results in March “for tens of thousands of keywords and over half a million web domains.”

The study found that 36.6 percent of Google’s search results include “at least one snippet with information derived from Schema.org.”

We highly recommend utilising Schemas to markup your content, it could give you an edge in the SERPS, it also creates more real estate in the SERP display, making your website stand out to prospects.
